Weekly Report/ Part 1

The new year is the turning point for making changes, for creating a new reality, for inspiration and creativity. Prompted by the arrival of the new year, we suggest some activities, books, and movies to have a good time with your loved ones as well as to use your free time productively.

Reading: Erotokritos – Vincenzo Cornaro by Oblik Editions

A timeless poem, a landmark of love, which can easily be read as a piece of prose. The story of Erotokritos and Aretousa echoes that of Romeo and Juliet, suggesting a love that is strong and unfulfilled. Does love always win? (it does, we answer)

Exploring: The (festive) Aristotelous square

The holidays may have come to an end, but the festive spirit remains invincible for a little longer. The city has not changed out of its festive character yet and invites us to keep the holiday spirit for as long as possible. Aristotelous Square is the perfect place to explore and capture some last festive memories.

Proposing: Poor Things by Yorgos Lanthimos

The Greek director has the power to evoke an endless emotional glory to his audience, as proven by his previous work, The Lobster (2015) and Dogtooth (2009). Poor Things comes with the aim of redefining the destigmatization of sexual preferences, by highlighting the freedom with which they are associated. At the same time, the movie is infused with all these “concerns” which are prominent in the director’s movies. (1)

Obsessing: My Love Mine All Mine by Mitski

The song «My Love Mine All Mine» was released in September 2023 and is included in the album The Land Is Ιnhospitable and So Are We. It is a tender conversation with the moon about the immortal essence of love. Because material possessions, facts and predetermined things are eventually overturned, but love can withstand every difficulty.

Remaking: Our thoughts

The days before the new year make it necessary to reflect and redefine our goals for the coming year. The change of the established reality is not something that should not scare us, but what should motivate us so that every step leads us closer to our common goal. This year’s TEDxAUTH event is very promising and the whole team is working hard to achieve a result worthy of the expectations.

Tasting: Romantzo (Veroias 2, Thessaloniki)

In the heart of the city, very close to Ladadika, you can find Romantzo. You can enjoy your brunch and your drink, in a minimal, cozy and intimate space. We recommend that you try their homemade cherry juice, which is also served hot during the winter! It reminds us of Glühwein (mulled sweet wine), with the delicious notes of cinnamon and honey emerging. A beverage that will accompany our cold nights until spring arrives on our footstep.

The pulse of the city is fast and alternates between images, sounds and smells. It invites you to discover its secrets and we are here to reveal what is happening in the heart of the city.
