Sotiris Garagkanis is a paralympic gold medalist in Tokyo, as an accompanying athlete, Greek Champion, graduate of the Gymnastics Academy.
He was born and raised in Athens. His athletic inclination became noticeable from a young age.
He is a speed athlete (60m, 100m, 200m) of the National Track Team and the National Men’s Relay Team. In 2019 he had his first big recognition with his personal record in the 100m and he achieved getting admitted to the European Athletics Championships.
He has been working with Athanasios Gavelas, as his accompanying athlete since 2021. Together they managed to climb to the highest podium of the Paralympic Games and break the 100m world record in the T11 category, which concerns vision loss.
He’s been crowned Champion of Greece 5 times, while at the same time he counts numerous participations in domestic and international events.
