A movie title, stuck in my mind uninvited. I am unable to define its genre, I am puzzled about choosing the right protagonists for it and I feel almost scared about choosing its set. I can, however, tell you the story, color the narrative with my own words, until the script takes shape and I find my answers.
Summer comes to an end and life takes on a more steady, gentle, and indolent pace again. You long for those summer days that have passed and look forward to finding something in your winter that will remind you a little of their warmth. This warmth is found nowhere else but in a group of people who never stops creating. And magically, the applications for a place in the organization of a very promising event open and the challenge looks tempting. In this way, a chapter closes, and the script is in route to introduce its next chapter.
Being part of a large group of people makes you nervous and simultaneously gives you a feeling of unparalleled confidence that we will succeed together. Thirty-three different personalities are invited to get to know each other, to unite their ideas, their expectations, their wants, and their fears. Each person possesses a near-perfect knowledge of each individual position that they are called to take upon. Knowledge meets challenge and collaborates with any corresponding piece of knowledge that will bring about the desired outcome. It will be impossible to match all ideas perfectly, because each person has a variety of them. Sometimes they will clash and others they will come together inevitably. It’s the people, after all, who make the ideas, their combination, and their deviation so interesting. And before you even realize it, fall is here.
In the winter we are anxiously looking for a place to stand, to rest. But winter, if you belong to a group like this one, will be in a constant state of movement, search, and anxiety. Because winter is the season of creation and spiritual turmoil. It’s the time when dreams become reality and ideas acquire actual substance. Pressure is the protagonist, but the redemption that comes with it curves a smile on your face when every obstacle is overcome and becomes a thing of the past. The composition of all these individual elements, when they will have finally taken their complete form, takes your breath away, as you await catharsis.
Spring will always be the eternal “methexis” for the things that have gone by and for those you expect to come. The time when all efforts are rewarded. The “idea” no longer belongs to thirty-three people, but to an entire city, which celebrates, is moved and shivers from excitement. Wherever Ithaka is, wherever it is sheltered, it will always have room for ideas to spread, for feelings to become known and for the effort of many months to finally receive the recognition it deserves. After all, ideas will always blossom in the spring, and with them so will we.
All seasons, each in its own way, compose the vision whose components, no matter what changes they are subjected to, will leave its essence unchanged. Because the energy of people who want to create, to collaborate, to dream, to succeed, even to fail sometimes, has momentum and a soul. The circle will be complete and the next one will begin. So, let’s make each one special. Because TEDxAUTH will always be a good idea…
