Would you like us to speak honestly? Would you like us to see things from a little more realistic perspective? I wouldn’t. I want us to talk about the things we can’t do, the things that we have still not tried to do and mainly the things that we dream of doing. I want us to talk about ideas. I want us to talk about people. I want us to talk about dreams.
Humans, you know, are not made for the earthly things. Humans are made for higher things. Humans are made to overcome routine. And is there a more direct way for someone to overcome routine than dreaming? Than imagining how things would be if this had happened or that had happened?
Of course, you will tell me that history is not made with “ifs”. I really want you to tell me, because I already know the answer: history was written by people who dreamt of “if”, they imagined how beautiful it would be if it happened and dared to make it come true.
History was written by dreamers who had the power, mostly the mental power, to go after their dreams. They had the mental power to fight so that their “if” takes form. They had the mental power to marry the real world to the world of ideas, to the world of dreams. These people managed to do in their lives what they had dreamt of.
These people are worth admiring. And they are worth admiring not only because they managed to do in their lives what they wanted, but also because they managed to overcome all the obstacles that they met. They managed to ignore all those who told them that they can’t. They managed to ignore all those who told them that it is stupid to dream. They managed to ignore all those who attempted to make them sane.
These people managed to not stop feeling in a world that no longer feels. These people managed to find the good in the bad, the moral in the immoral, the light in the darkness. These people managed, with their dream, to make their “if” a reality. These people managed to make history.
They managed to turn their life into a dream and their dream into reality, as Antoine de Saint-Exupéry said.
